Homicide detectives say they believe Olsen strangled his mother in their College Place home early Thursday, then waited until after 8 p.m. to call police. An article of clothing was apparently used to strangle her.

Detectives say it did not appear the mother was aware of the alleged theft. Police are not sure how much money was taken.
