Suffolk County Bans Bath Salts

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Suffolk County lawmakers have banned the sale of bath salts.

Sold inside blue or black packets at convenience stores for as low as $20, the bath salts are actually MDPV, a powder that causes causes hallucinations, suicidal thoughts and paranoia when snorted.

Some teenagers had to be rushed to the hospital.

Also, there's a push by some senators on the federal level to ban bath salts from being sold in conveinence stores and on the internet.

The Suffolk County Legislature voted on the ban Tuesday night.
