Stamford Police Investigate Violent Death Of Leonel Rios Hernandez

STAMFORD, CT (AP / CBSNewYork) - Stamford police are investigating what they are calling the violent homicide of a 30-year-old man who was found dead in his bedroom by relatives.

Leonel Rios Hernandez' body was discovered around 7:15 p.m. on Monday. His body had been in the room more than 24 hours when he was discovered however police said it is unclear exactly when he died.

The unemployed man shared the apartment with family members.

Capt. Richard Conklin says the victim met a violent end.

"It definitely looks like blunt force trauma about the face and head," he told WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau. "It appears some emotion [was] involved in his death."

It is the city's first reported homicide of the year.
