Pair Of Suspected Police Impersonators Arrested On Long Island

BELLEROSE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A man and a woman were under arrest for allegedly impersonating police officers on Long Island.

Nassau County police said Marylynn De Joseph of Bellerose and Twayne Dash of Queens have been charged with criminal impersonation, robbery and conspiracy.

Police said the pair pulled over a car, identified themselves as police officers and said they wanted to search the car.

The driver opened the center console to get his ID, revealing some cash. Police say Dash reached through the window and took the money.

The two then fled in their car.

The incident occurred Saturday evening on Jericho Turnpike in Bellerose.

They were scheduled to be arraigned Monday. It was not immediately clear if they had obtained lawyers.
