NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) – A bakery truck driver was killed by a Long Island Rail Road express train Tuesday morning.

Authorities say he was killed after driving through crossing gates.

One person aboard the train was hospitalized with a shoulder injury.

Service was suspended between Ronkonkoma and Farmingdale after a train crashed into a vehicle on the tracks. The incident occurred just east of Deer Park, the MTA said.

Customers were advised to use the Huntington/Port Jefferson branch and the Babylon branch instead.

Bus service was provided.

The gates comes down across the tracks and the multiple red lights flash for a reason! No matter how much of a rush you”re in, don’t try to drive around the gates, etc. At least this delivery person won’t make this mistake a second time. Learn from his mistake!

Yes, there were injuries and at least one fatality. The person’s remains were littered all over the tracks…horrific. There we some people on our train who left in ambulances as well.

Oh no, I usually take that train but missed it this morning. I hope the people on the train are all okay.

I was on that train. It was a mess. Even blew out a window on the train in the second car. The cover of the third rail was completely torn off. I wouldn’t expect service back on the Ronkonkoma line any time today.
