Apocalypse Now? Not Until Saturday Says Robert Fitzpatrick Of Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, NY (1010 WINS) – Two days and counting... the end of the world is near, according to a Staten Island man.

Robert Fitzpatrick says that around 6 p.m. Saturday, all Hell will be breaking loose.

Fitzpatrick is the author of "The Doomsday Code." He says come Saturday evening, buildings and bridges will collapse, dams will burst and flames will consume the planet.

"Industrial wastes will be released, radioactive wastes will be released, it's going to be Hell on Earth," Fitzpatrick told 1010 WINS' John Montone.

Fitzpatrick says as God begins destroying the planet, true believers like him will be sucked up into Heaven. Everyone else he says, will die.

"It's very upsetting but that is what the Bible is telling us," he said.

Some skeptics may think Fitzpatrick has a few screws loose and though he says he has never met with a mental health expert he says he is "quite sane."

Naysayers around the country are sponsoring "Rapture parties" to celebrate the world not coming to an end. Online, a Facebook group sarcastically promoting post-Rapture looting has thousands of people signed up.

Yet even as he anticipates the fiery end to all human existence, Fitzpatrick continues to recycle his trash as if life will go on.
