IMF Chief Strauss-Kahn Expected To Leave 71 Broadway Soon

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A security detail whisked away the wife of Dominique Strauss-Khan back to 71 Broadway Tuesday after she spent part of the morning trying to arrange a move out of their short-term rental.

Strauss-Kahn has spent the past four days under house arrest with his wife Anne Sinclair on charges he sexually assaulted a hotel housekeeper at the Sofitel New York on May 14.

Even on a budget said to reach $50,000 a month, finding a landlord willing to brave a media blitz has proved a heavy lift for the French power couple.

Real estate expert Jonathan Miller says it's likely Strauss-Kahn will end up in a privately owned townhouse because no co-op or condo may want him.

"I think the primary concern is the security detail that he's going to require. Also the crowds, the media, everybody. When people are renting an apartment, paying a lot per month, they want privacy and they don't want that inconvenience," Miller told CBS 2's Tony Aiello.

NYPD spokesman Paul Browne visited 71 Broadway briefly, but refused to comment on reports that DNA testing confirmed Strauss-Kahn's bodily fluids were found on the uniform worn by the 32-year old alleged victim.

Strauss-Kahn was expected to leave the temporary residence on Tuesday, but as of Tuesday evening, there was no indication that he had found a new home.
