The $5 entrance fee for Westchester County residents has been eliminated and the cost for non-residents has gone from $10 to $5.

"There's no loss in it for us," says county board chairman Ken Jenkins. "If we can do something to help people out just a little bit, it makes sense."

He says, once inside the park, they'll spend money on rides and food.

"We want to make sure that people have the opportunity to come in as well as now to be able to spend some additional money, maybe on some food, etc, which we all generate sales tax revenue from," Jenkins told WCBS 880 reporter Catherine Cioffi.

By approving the bill in an 11 to 6 vote, the board is changing what was approved in the 2011 budget.

Playland, in Rye, is one of the few government-owned and-operated amusement parks in the United States.
