Michael Vick: Ex-Giants WR Plaxico Burress Would Be 'Great Addition' To Eagles

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Michael Vick knows a thing or two about returning to the NFL after a lengthy stint in the slammer.

Vick told WIP Radio's Howard Eskin and Ike Reese earlier this week that jailed ex-Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress, scheduled to be released from Oneida Correctional Facility on June 6, would make a fine fit for the Philadelphia Eagles.

"Absolutely it would be a great addition for our team," Vick said. " I think we can fit him in and make it work. Obviously the ultimate goal at the end of the day is to put that ring on your finger."

Andy Reid's Eagles took Vick in after his incarceration -- and so far it's been a rousing success in the City of Brotherly Love.

"I think certainly Plaxico is going to come out with a chip on his shoulder the same way I did, and he'll go out and help this football team to whatever capacity he can," added Vick. "I think the guys would be willing to embrace him and bring him in. If that happens? Who knows? We're talking about 'what ifs' now. It would certainly be a good thing."

According to a weekend report from The New York Daily News' Gary Myers, the Eagles "will eventually be first in line" for Burress.

In the article, Myers all but ruled out a return to the Giants. As for the Jets? They're out, too.

"It's never made sense for the Giants to bring back Burress," wrote Myers. "Too much history. They are pretty deep at receiver anyway. I've been hearing Burress wants a change of venue and doesn't want to play in New York, which would also rule out the Jets."

"I'm excited that he's getting out," Giants quarterback Eli Manning told the New York Post on Monday. "If the Giants or another team give him a shot, I'll look forward to getting him back into football."

Even if he's playing for your biggest rival, Eli?
