Report: Steroid 'Mule' Yuri Sucart Spotted With A-Rod

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Alex Rodriguez's relationship with his former steroid "mule" is again raising eyebrows.

"According to a team source, Rodriguez's cousin, Yuri Sucart, is again traveling with Rodriguez on some road trips, despite being banned by the Yankees," the New York Daily News reported on Thursday.

Sucart was identified in 2009 as the cousin who provided Rodriguez with performance-enhancing drugs obtained in the Dominican Republic. The slugger admitted using them while playing for the Texas Rangers from 2001-3.

Rodriguez had been told by the Yankees to keep Sucart away from any team-related facility. The message applied both the regular season and spring training.

It appears, despite the Bombers' edict, A-Rod's cousin is still hanging around.

"Sucart, wearing a Yankee hooded sweatshirt, was spotted at the team's St. Regis Hotel in San Francisco Tuesday night after the middle game of the Bombers' series with Oakland," wrote the paper. "The source also said Sucart has accompanied A-Rod on road trips this year and even last season."

The league has taken notice, too.

"Our position is, we told the Yankees, they agreed, that (Sucart) should not be allowed in any non-public areas; clubhouses, any team charters, buses. And it's our understanding that that prohibition has been respected," Rob Manfred, MLB's executive VP of labor relations, said on Thursday.

He added: "All we can do is control his access to areas that (MLB) or the team control. We will stay in touch with the Yankees to make sure that prohibition is being respected. A hotel lobby is a public place, there is nothing we can do."
