Public Hearing In Westchester To Address Possible Rent Hikes

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Renters and landlords are getting their chance to sound off about possible increases.

The Westchester Rent Guidelines Board has scheduled three public hearings on increases for regulated apartments.

The hearings will be held Monday night in Mount Vernon, Wednesday in Yonkers and June 13 in White Plains.

The board will decide June 20 about rent increases for buildings subject to the Emergency Tenant Protection Act. About 30,000 apartment units in Westchester County fall under the act, which is designed to limit increases in communities with tight rental markets.
