Prosecutors: 4 Charged With ATM Key Pad Scam In NYC

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Four people are charged with stealing at least $1.5 million by installing illegal electronic equipment on ATMs at four Manhattan bank branches.

Federal prosecutors said the defendants replaced the ATM key pads at Chase branches in Midtown, Chelsea and across from the United Nations.

A Manhattan indictment said that allowed them to remotely obtain customers' PINs.

The crimes occurred in March and April, 2010.

If convicted, they could face up to 60 years in prison.
