FRANKLIN SQUARE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Authorities said a man is accused of stealing a mourner's cell phone during a Long Island funeral Mass.

He's also charged with pilfering poor boxes at two churches.

Police said the woman's phone was taken Tuesday when she left her purse on a pew at St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Franklin Square.

They said the victim earlier gave the suspect $10 when he asked for money.

Jayson Bianco also was charged with stealing cash from two of St. Catherine's poor boxes on Friday, and with removing three poor boxes from St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Hempstead on May 29.

Bianco was charged with petit larceny and third-degree burglary.

The name of his attorney was not immediately known.
