Families Hold Vigil On Gilgo Beach For Victims Of Suspected Serial Killer

GILGO BEACH, NY (CBSNewYork) -- A vigil was held Saturday for four women who were found dead near Long Island's Gilgo Beach.

Family members and friends gathered at Gilgo Beach in Suffolk County. Ten sets of human remains have been discovered there along Ocean Parkway since December, including the bodies of Maureen Barnes, Melissa Barthemay, Megan Waterman and Amber Lynn Costello.

Investigators suspect a serial killer is responsible for at least four of the deaths. Saturday marks the one year anniversary of victim Megan Waterman's disappearance.

"I wanted to see where they found my daughter and to pay my respects to finally say goodbye to her," said Waterman's mother, Lorraine Ewa. "They were all beautiful women. They weren't just prostitutes as everyone is saying. They were daughters, sisters, cousins, nieces."

So far, no suspects have been identified in the deaths.
