MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano says he will lay off 130 municipal employees and redeploy 160 members of the police department. The cuts would go into effect July 1.

Nassau County has one of the highest tax rates in the country. It was placed under a state fiscal watchdog earlier this year after officials determined the county budget was $176 million in the red.
