Ex-Porn Star Ginger Lee Speaks Out, Says Rep. Weiner Asked Her To Lie

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- On the day his wife returned from overseas, a porn star came forward to say Congressman Anthony Weiner asked her to lie about their steamy exchanges.

She is young and blond -- a photo opposite of Rep. Weiner's dark-haired wife, Huma Abedin. And while he was trying to reunite with his newly pregnant mate, Ginger Lee was making it just so much more difficult, reports CBS 2's Marcia Kramer.

"He asked me to lie about our communication," Lee said.

"Ginger Lee" is apparently this young woman's stage name. She has appeared in adult films but prefers to be labeled a "feature dancer," and by her account, she and the congressman exchanged steamy e-mails, some of which were read out loud Wednesday by her lawyer, Gloria Allred.

"I have wardrobe demands too. I need to highlight my package,''' Weiner wrote Lee.

Lee said that she did not initiate sexual talk with Weiner, but that he talked about himself in a suggestive way. Lee said that she did not talk about sex online with Weiner.

"Anytime that he would take our communications in a sexual direction, I did not reciprocate,'' she said.

"We did communicate on a fairly regular basis," Lee said. "However, I did not sext Anthony Weiner. I did not send photos to him or receive any from him."

But the problem for the congressman is that after a stream of his sordid self portraits became public he called Lee and asked her to keep their e-mail exchanges to herself.

"On June 2 he called me and told me what to say and to deal with the mounting pressure from the press and how to handle it," Lee said.

This revelation emerged as a new Public Policy poll was released, showing 60 percent of Americans wanting the randy lothario to resign. Only 8 percent have a favorable opinion of the once-popular liberal Democratic mouthpiece, and 70 percent have an unfavorable view.

The beleaguered congressman also reportedly offered her professional public relations assistance -- somebody from his "team."

"He told me if neither of us said anything over the weekend the story would calm down and die," Lee said.

Boy was the congressman wrong about that. There were more pictures and calls from numerous Democrats, including President Barack Obama, for him to resign from Congress.

So far, Weiner has resisted that, instead waiting until his wife got home Wednesday from a weeklong trip to the Middle East with her boss, Hillary Clinton, to discuss it.

Lee could help push him out of Congress.

"She stands ready to cooperate," Allred said.

Allred said Lee will give House ethics probers any information they want about her relationship with Weiner.

"If called to testify, she will testify truthfully and she will provide all of her communication to and from the congressman to the committee," Allred said.

Lee said she thinks Weiner should resign for lying to public about the sexting scandal, saying "It might have never turned into this if he told the truth."

Probers would want to see if the e-mails or the phone call used congressional resources. The congressman's spokeswoman offered no information about his conversations with his wife Wednesday, or whether the two are even together yet.

And there was no new information about whether he will resign.
