Giants' Tom Coughlin Brushes Off 'Ambivalent' Rip From Plaxico Burress

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Coach, how do you feel about Plaxico Burress burying the way you lead the Giants?

"I don't pay any attention to it," Tom Coughlin told the New York Post Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.

"It is what it is. Maybe he's sending me along a badge of honor. How do I know?"

On Monday, Burress slammed his relationship with Coughlin -- and called Rex Ryan's Jets an "appealing" option.

"My situation in New York, me and my coach had an ambivalent relationship to say the least," Burress said in a TV interview. "Some things that I didn't agree with, with the way he went about things. And the only way to show my way was to just rebel. Is that who I am? No."

He added: "This is not college. This is professional sports. If you can't sit down and go talk to a man that you are busting your tail for, not even have the respect for anything that you have to say, like I said, the only thing I knew then was to rebel."

Coughlin, not fazed by the criticism leveled by Burress, said he hopes the wide receiver "gets to know his kids once again."

"As I've said many times, I'll stay with the same line: I hope he gets some normalcy in his life and has a chance to spend some time with his family," said Coughlin. "His wife has done a tremendous job of holding that family together for the last two years. She deserves some help."

"I love the Giants," Burress' wife, Tiffany, told The Post in May. "Wherever he wants to go, I'll just support that 100 percent."

Coughlin's grandson was serving as honorary bat boy for the Yankees.
