Dog Thrown In The Trash In The Bronx Is Recovering

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A severely emaciated dog that was thrown out with the garbage in New York City is recovering and may soon be put up for adoption.

Animal Care & Control Executive Director Julie Bank says a staffer found the pit bull on May 26 in a large trash bin in the Bronx.

Bank says the dog, named Ella, couldn't walk when she came in and could barely rasie her head.

Ella is now recovering at a foster home. She'll be available for adoption once she has put on more weight and has finished her recovery.

Anyone interested in Ella can email the AC&C at info@nyacc.org.
