18-Year-Old Joseph Mastrangelo Dies In Go-Kart Crash In East Islip

EAST ISLIP, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police say a Long Island teenager died after he lost control of his go-kart and crashed into a parked car near his home Sunday afternoon.

Joseph Mastrangelo, 18, was driving the go-kart on Pauchogue Avenue south of Montauk Highway in East Islip when he struck the rear of a parked 1993 Dodge Intrepid around 4:40 p.m.

Responding officers removed Mastrangelo from beneath the car. He was taken to Southside Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
