NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — In this once a year production called Broadway Barks, dogs and cats in need of homes take center stage on the Great White Way.
LISTEN: WCBS 880’s Sonia Rincon reports
If you’re thinking of adopting a pet and love theater, Broadway legend Bernadette Peters says this is the event for you. Peters, who is hosting this year’s Broadway Barks with Mary Tyler Moore, says rescues make great co-stars.
“A shelter animal is the gift that keeps on giving,” said Peters. “They just love you, they’re more attached to you and they’re just fabulous companions for the rest of their lives.”
There are 27 city shelters and rescue organizations are taking part in the event. You’ll also get the chance to take home autograph Broadway memorabilia from an auction.
