Gotham Gossipist: A Rough Week For Lamar Odom

By Kimberly Rae Miller

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It was certainly a less-than-relaxing weekend for a certain member of the Kardashian crew.

Lamar Odom, who was most famous for being a forward for the Los Angeles Lakers before gaining fame as Mr. Khloe Kardashian, was in New York this weekend to attend his cousin's funeral.

Apparently things took a turn for the even-worse on Sunday when the chauffeured car he was riding in crashed into a motorcyclist and a teenage pedestrian in Queens.  Odom had been on his way to a barber shop in his home neighborhood of Jamaica at the time of the crash. A spokesman for the athlete's wife confirmed to the New York Post that Odom was in a car service at the time.

"Khloe wasn't in the car. It was a driver, and Lamar was in the back seat,'' Kardashian's publicist, Jill Fritzo, told the Post.

Upon learning that her hubby escaped without injury, Khloe, who was not with Odom at the time, tweeted "Angels are surrounding me always. Thank you!!"

The other parties involved weren't so lucky.  Both the cyclist and pedestrian sustained serious injury and are currently being treated at Elmhurst Hospital.

A source close to Odom says that the 6'10 New York native is seriously "shaken up" by the accident.

In addition to attending the family funeral, Odom was in town to shoot a Nike commercial. We'll be interested to see how that ad turns out.
