Rockies Name Price For Jimenez: Yankees' Montero, Banuelos, Betances, Nova

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Even with his early season struggles, the Rockies aren't about to deal away 19-game winner Ubaldo Jimenez for peanuts.

"We would have to be absolutely overwhelmed," Colorado general manager Dan O'Dowd told the Denver Post this weekend. "It would have to be a Herschel Walker deal."

The trade for Walker between Dallas and Minnesota involved 18 players and draft picks. "The Great Train Robbery," as it's also known, stands as the largest trade -- and one of the most lopsided -- in NFL history. It restocked the Cowboys' system en route to a 90's dynasty.

It seems Colorado really does have something similar in mind. According to WFAN's Jon Heyman, the Rockies have named their price, and it's steep.

They want top catching prospect Jesus Montero, starting pitcher Ivan Nova and the Yankees' top two pitching prospects -- Dellin Betances and Manny Banuelos.

New York isn't willing to make that deal, reported Heyman, and the sides remain far apart.

Jimenez, owed just $4.2 million next season, is 5-8 with a 4.08 ERA this season. In his last nine starts, the hurler is 5-3 with a 2.56 ERA.

He went 19-8 with a 2.88 ERA in 2010.

"Asking prices start high this time of year, and they usually come down," Yankees beat reporter Sweeny Murti wrote on Monday. "But I wouldn't expect it when the team isn't desperate to move the guy."

Jimenez, meanwhile, told the Post that he "won't be bothered by trade rumors."

"I am mentally strong," he told the paper. "Don't forget that about me."

"Now I am almost there. I am getting to 95 miles per hour consistently. You are going to see more, I promise you that," Jimenez added. "I love Colorado. I want to do well for this team. I want to be here for these guys. But you never know in this business."
