Taylor Nolte Apologizes At Sentencing For Deadly Crash Which Killed Two In Centereach

RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A 20-year-old woman who was drunk and high when she crashed her car, killing two friends, has apologized to their families.

Newsday reports that Taylor Nolte offered the apology at her sentencing Tuesday in a Riverhead courtroom.

Friends Kelly Mallazzo and Kenyen Gaskins were killed in the crash on Jan. 28, 2010, in Centereach.

Nolte was sentenced to 4 1/2 to 13 1/2 years in prison on charges including aggravated vehicular homicide, manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.

Nolte admitted in a court appearance in June that she drank the caffeinated alcoholic beverage Four Loko, smoked marijuana and took Ecstasy before the crash.

Nolte and two other passengers were not injured.
