Baby Boy Delivered In Minivan Outside Maimonides Medical Center

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A newborn baby boy could hardly wait to make his grand entrance into the world. He was so ready, he made his debut outside Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn Thursday morning.

Nurse midwife Linda Gaglioti delivered the 7-pound, 2-ounce baby boy in the back of the family minivan minutes after Rosa Dominguez's husband, Manuel Bueno, pulled up to the emergency entrance.

"They said that there was a patient out front ready to deliver, so we all went running," Gaglioti told reporters. "We all thought we were going to bring her inside, but you do the best you can. Babies come when they come."

Dominguez said that she felt "good."  Her first baby was delivered in five hours and apparently her second baby was determined to beat that.

The couple had recently moved to Sunset Park, Brooklyn from Queens and were on there way to a hospital there.  However, Dominguez decided there wasn't enough time and they headed to Maimonides instead.

"As soon as I looked at her face, I knew we were having a baby there," Gaglioti said. "I didn't really think we were going to be able to transfer her."
