Buffalo Women Will Be First Same-Sex Couple To Wed In New York State

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two Buffalo women will be the first same-sex couple to be officially married in New York in a ceremony at 12:01 Sunday morning.

Cheryle Rudd and Kitty Lambert will make history as the first gay couple to be married under the state's new same-sex law and they say they can't wait for their Niagara Falls wedding.

Cheryle has battled cancer and Kitty has had three heart attacks but they say love has conquered all and they're dedicated to their future together.

For the ceremony, Niagara Falls will be bathed in the rainbow colors of the equality flag.

In New York City, officials are expanding the city's same-sex marriage plans for Sunday so all 823 couples who entered the nuptial lottery will have the chance to wed on the first day gay marriage is legal.
