Gov. Dan Malloy wasn't at the wheel of his town car when it was parked at Church Street in New Haven around noon Thursday.
But when he left a meeting with Chamber of Commerce officials, a city officer had slapped a parking ticket on the windshield.
City spokesman Adam Joseph says, when it comes to breaking the law in New Haven, police don't play favorites.
"Our parking enforcement officers strive to treat everybody equally. You're parked and your meter is expired or you're parked illegally, you'll get a ticket regardless if you're [an] elected official or not," he told WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau.
It turns out the governor's driver had parked the car partially in a no parking zone.
The governor says he'll pay the $30 fine out of his own pocket.
