More multi-space meters have been installed, making all city-run garages equipped with the high-tech meters.

“This will reduce the number of overtime notices, which is what’s issued in garages if you go overtime,” said Mayor Tom Roach.

Roach says the meters make it easier to add time. You can even do it on your cell phone.

“This is a great opportunity to use technology to make life simpler for both the residents and the people work and shop in our city,” Roach told WCBS 880 reporter Catherine Cioffi. “If you’re in the library with your children, to know that you can just walk into the lobby and add time at the pay station without going back to your car, I think, is a real advantage.”

He says he knows there’s nothing more aggravating than coming back to your car and seeing a red and white ticket on your windshield.
