Police Arrest 2 In Shopping Cart Theft On Long Island
JERICHO, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police said two women stole a handbag and merchandise from a woman's shopping cart as she was loading her toddler into the car in a Long Island parking lot.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Marshalls parking lot of Birchwood Plaza in Jericho.
Gladys Smith-Pinto, 58, and Gladys Smith, 38, were arrested and charged with grand larceny. They were scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
It was not immediately clear if they had retained attorneys.
The 38-year-old victim and her 2-year-old child were not injured.
