Gotham Gossipist: Lady Gaga Resurrects Male Alter Ego Jo Calderone For New Single Cover

By Kimberly Rae Miller

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) --  Lady Gaga wasn't born this way - the way of her male alter-ego, Jo Calderone.

The character has now resurfaced, after originally appearing in Vogue Hommes Japan's September 2010 issue, which featured a photo spread of our hometown girl going drag and taking the Calderone name.

Supposedly, Caledrone is an Italian car mechanic. I don't know about you, but I've never had a mechanic that looked quite like that.

Regardless, Lady Gaga has resurrected Calerdone for the cover of her new single, "You and I."

In her own Gaga-esque code, she announced the project on Twitter, writing "You will never find what you are looking for in love, if you don't love yourself," along with photos of herself/Jo.

I'm not sure if Gaga loves herself or loooooves herself, but girl, methinks you can do better on the boyfriend front.  Jo kind of looks like he'd steal your car and kick your puppy.

Perhaps going undercover as Jo is a way for Gaga to avoid her legal woes.  Earlier this week Rebecca Francescatti filed a motion accusing the pop star of plagiarism, saying her  song "Judas" is strikingly similar to her own 1999 song "Juda."

Mechanics never have this type of trouble.
