Robert 'Sandy' Vietz Thrown Off U.S. Ski Team After Allegedly Urinating On Girl Aboard JetBlue Flight

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - Talk about going downhill fast.

Robert "Sandy" Vietze, 18, has been sacked from the U.S. ski team following a bizarre incident aboard a JetBlue flight from Oregon to New York Wednesday.

Sara Beth Joren, a Port Authority police spokeswoman, said Vietze was pie-eyed on the red-eye flight and allegedly urinated on a fellow passenger - an 11-year-old girl, no less.

Vietze, of Warren, Vt., was detained by police at Kennedy Airport when he landed.

A spokeswoman for the Port Authority Police said federal prosecutors later decided not to pursue indecent exposure charges.

U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association Executive Vice President of Athletics Luke Bodensteiner emailed a statement Friday to The Associated Press. It said Vietze had been dismissed from the team for conduct violations.

Details of the episode were first reported by The New York Post.

Should charges have been pressed? If you were aboard the flight, how would you have reacted? Sound off in our comments section.
