Aspiring Jihadist Makes Death Threat Against Late Show's David Letterman

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Apparently not everyone finds Late Show host David Letterman's jokes to be very funny -- one aspiring jihadist in particular.

According to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors and translates online activity of terror groups, a poster, who identified himself as Umar al-Basrawi on the Shumukh al-Islam Web forum, has called for the killing of Letterman because he mocked the death of al Qaeda leader Ilyas Kashmiri.

Kashmiri was killed in a drone strike in June. Letterman apparently cracked jokes about the killing and further infuriated the poster by dragging his finger across his neck in a gesture indicating the suspected terrorist was killed.

"I saw with my own eyes and heard with my own ears, one of the lowlifes of the Jews, and one of their pigs, mocking one of the leaders of the Mujahedeen," the translation of the post read.

The poster also described Letterman as "a sick Jew with defined features," despite the fact that he was brought up as a Presbyterian.

So far, the production company for the Late Show, Worldwide Pants, has not commented on the threat.
