The Black Eyed Peas, along with LL Cool J, Carole King, MC Hammer, Debbie Harry and Taylor Swift, were to perform for a crowd of thousands on the Great Lawn on June 9.

The show was at first delayed an hour because of severe thunderstorms and lightning before being scrapped entirely -- much to the dismay of fans who waited several hours in the sweltering heat for the gates to open.

About 50,000 to 60,000 fans were expected to be on hand for the free, ticketed show.

Ticketholders for the original concert will receive e-mail instructions on how to redeem tickets for the rescheduled event.

A small number of VIP tickets will be made available for sale through BlackEyedPeas.RobinHood.org.

The show will benefit the New York City-based anti-poverty group Robin Hood.
