Police say 32-year-old Randy "Amanda" Lehrer was last seen on August 16, leaving behind 10-month-old daughter Stephanie and husband Steven Acuna. Police said Acuna was last person to see her and isn't cooperating with investigators.

Officials say Lehrer's husband initially said she stormed out of their Jersey City home but he waited at least three days until Wednesday to report her missing. He now says he will not cooperate with police without speaking to a lawyer first.

"We have been delayed, because of a lack of cooperation on his part, has forced us to seek court orders, subpoenas and warrants to do our job," said Chief Tom Comey of the Jersey City PD.

"We worked together 10 hours a day, you know?  I'm really worried, I am," said Donna Scocco, Lehrer's friend and coworker at Tommy's Restaurant.

Asked is she believes Lehrer would leave her baby behind, Scocco told CBS 2's Tony Aiello "Never in a million years.  No way. Nope. No.  I'm sorry."

Co-workers said Acuna called the restaurant on Monday to say Lehrer left to care for her sick mother, but when the restaurant called Amanda's family in Canada, they said her mother was fine, and the husband's claim just wasn't true.

"Sounds crazy to me. Makes it sound like he had something to do with it, he knows something," said neighbor Amy Scarola.

Police have searched the couple's home on Charles Street. Where neighbors often heard them fighting.

"They would argue a lot and I remember actually seeing her last week, and she kicked him out, she told him don't ever come back I don't want to see you," said neighbor Janaya Henry.

"We are very concerned for her safety," Comey said.

Police have found no evidence of foul play but fear that may be the case. Anyone who has seen Amanda Lehrer is urged to call police at (201) 547-JAIL.  She was last seen wearing a black Ed Hardy t-shirt and has a tattoo on her right shoulder that says "Laugh Now, Cry Later."
