Wildwood police it happened around 9 p.m. Friday at Morey's Mariner's Landing Pier. They say it appeared that the center mast of a ride called the Sea Dragon, a pirate ship that swings back and forth, had snapped while the ride was in motion.

It wasn't clear what caused the mast to break.

The teen was sent to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Four others were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Wildwood police detectives are investigating the incident along with New Jersey's investigator of amusement rides.

This is the second ride-related incident at the New Jersey amusement park. In June, an 11-year-old girl died after falling from a Ferris wheel while on a class trip to Wildwood.
