Scala faces up to three and a half years in prison.
The drug trafficking ring allegedly peddled thousands of oxycodone pills out of an ice cream truck that was used to sell ice cream to neighborhood kids.
Scala admitted to obtaining the pain killers by recruiting neighborhood volunteers to build fraudulent prescriptions.
Then he would park his ice cream truck on a prearranged corner and sell ice cream to kids.
But officials said after serving ice cream to children, Scala would then invite customers looking to buy oxycodone to step into his truck and complete the transaction.
Prosecutors said the customers would usually wait in their cars nearby for a signal from Scala.
Police say it was a $1 million a year business.
