Whoopi Goldberg Adopts Kitten Allegedly Tossed From Verrazano Bridge

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Actress and television co-host Whoopi Goldberg has adopted the 2-month old kitten that was allegedly tossed out of a car window on the Verrazano Bridge last month.

On her Facebook page, Goldberg wrote that she was finally able take the kitten home, but that her other cat, "Oliver," was not too happy about the move.  However, Whoopi wrote that she thinks the new kitten will eventually win him over.

"I think he'll get Oliver to come around sooner than later," she wrote.

The kitten, named "Verrazano" by employees of the New York City Animal Care & Control, was rescued and taken to the organization's Staten Island care center after the incident.

Witnesses said that the kitten was thrown out of the window of a moving car and an animal control officer stopped his vehicle and rescued the kitten.

Goldberg said that the kitten has been nicknamed "Vinny."
