Police: 14-Year-Old Port Chester Girl Questioned In Father's Stabbing Death

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Westchester County father was found stabbed to death and now police sources say his 14-year-old daughter is the prime suspect.

The victim died in his own home early Sunday morning, reports CBS 2's Lou Young.

Anthony Guglielmo, 54, managed to stagger barefoot to the kitchen after someone plunged a steak knife into his chest.

His friends in Port Chester are still in shock.

"I was completely, you know, in shambles for a couple hours just trying to gather myself. I just couldn't believe it. I had just seen the guy and talked to him maybe two days ago," friend Kier Bayala said.

Now the horror deepens as police said Monday they believe Guglielmo's 14-year-old daughter may have killed her father and called for help hours later after cutting through a rear window to fake a burglary.

"She's calling 9-1-1 as though it is something that had just occurred and it's something that had apparently occurred much earlier in the evening. It's possible that that was staged," Port Chester Police Chief Joseph Krzeminski said.

Police believe the girl returned after spending the night with her 21-year-old boyfriend. They believe the father called her and demanded she return home. They have cell phone records and taxi records that indicate she arrived at about 1:30 a.m., several hours before calling 9-1-1 and shortly before a neighbor heard a struggle.

One neighbor told Young it sounded like a fight. Other neighbors who knew the girl and saw the father in passing were stunned at the suggestions the daughter may have been involved.

"I just think it's very sad. It's a family, a family that's been involved in a tragedy. It's terrible," Denise Garzilli said.

The girl has lived with her father since her parents divorced 11 years ago. There is a history of emotional problems and record of police disturbance calls from the troubled home.

So far been there have been no arrests.

The girl, whose name is being withheld because of her age, was released into her mother's custody as police await forensic reports.
