Now he has been hit with a huge civil judgment.

Mastellone has been ordered by Judge Denise L. Cote to pay the U.S. government $3.2 million under the False Claims Act. That's three times the amount he stole from the injured and from families of those who died on September 11.

Mastellone had claimed that he was totally disabled and unable to work due to injuries suffered on 9/11 and was awarded over $1 million.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said the $3.2 million civil judgment against Mastellone coming just after the tenth anniversary of that "unspeakable horror" is particularly gratifying.
