NJ Woman Charged With Lacing Boyfriend's Food With Cocaine

SOUTH BOUND BROOK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- It wasn't the usual secret ingredient.

Authorities have accused a New Jersey woman of spiking her boyfriend's dinner with cocaine.

Monica Cookman, 29, of South Bound Brook faces poisoning, aggravated assault and possession of cocaine charges.

Cookman's boyfriend told police his heart began racing and his throat went numb when he started eating.

Police say Cookman admitted putting two lines of cocaine in her boyfriend's food.

South Bound Brook Police Chief William King told The Courier News of Bridgewater the boyfriend didn't appear to have suffered serious injury.

Cookman's boyfriend has asked police for a restraining order against her.

It's not clear if Cookman has hired a lawyer.
