New York Public Library Extends Amnesty Program
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - If you're under 18-years-old and have an overdue or missing book borrowed from a branch of the New York Public Library, there is good news for you.

You have been granted amnesty! All is forgiven.
"We are cleaning the slate. We ask the students to bring back their books, whatever they can find under their beds or in their closets, and to come back to the libraries. Do not stay away from the libraries because of your fines," said incoming NYPL president Dr. Tony Marx.
Marx says the amnesty program will last through Halloween.
"Kids, it's schooltime, time to get serious. Bring your books back. Your fines are waived. We want you reading and we want you in the library," said Marx.
McGraw-Hill has kicked in $300,00o to help the libraries with the cash they'll lose as a result of the amnesty program.
