Dog Stabbed During Conn. Murder-Suicide; Teen Survivor Set For Fundraiser

MILFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork) - A horrific murder-suicide has left tragedy in its wake, and mounting bills for the sole survivor.

Police responded to a shocking scene on Branca Court in Milford last week. Kenneth Fox, 50, apparently went on a rampage, killing his wife Catherine, 51, and viciously attacking their pet dog.

Catherine was reportedly stabbed and asphyxiated. The family dog, Rocky, was also stabbed multiple times before Fox hanged himself.

Amazingly, despite numerous stab wounds, Rocky survived.

"Under normal circumstances, he shouldn't have walked out of the house," Animal Control Officer Rick George told WCBS 880's Fran Schneidau. "I give him really good chances."

The couple's 19-year-old son Eric had just started his Freshman year at the University of Connecticut at the time of the murder. In addition to losing his parents, he's now left with no way to pay his tuition or medical bills for Rocky.

"Right now, I mean the dog is his only family link, in reality," George said. "He's just holding out for his buddy, Rocky."

So the United Way of Milford has stepped in and has organized a fundraiser.

Contributions can be made to the Milford United Way, 20 Evergreen Avenue, Milford, Ct. 06460 c/o the "Eric Fox and Rocky Fund."

You can also donate online by checking out their website, clicking the PayPal donate button, and specifying the "Eric Fox and Rocky Fund."
