New Yorkers: You Might Own A Piece Of $11 Billion In Unclaimed Funds
ALBANY, NY (AP) - Here's a politician's favorite job: Handing out checks.
New York state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli is trying to do just that in events across the state this month to find the owners of $11 billion in unclaimed funds.
DiNapoli is trying to match the owners to the money left in bank accounts or other funds.
New Yorkers can also look to see if any of the money is there through DiNapoli's website or by calling toll free 800-221-9311. The website also carries additional facts about securing unclaimed funds.
