Jets' Nick Mangold Sits Out Practice, Expected To Play

NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) -- Jets center Nick Mangold did not participate in practice on Wednesday, but coach Rex Ryan thinks he'll be fine to start against the Miami Dolphins.

"I expect him to play," said Ryan.

Mangold, who returned last Sunday after missing two games with a high right ankle sprain, worked with trainers and did some jogging off to the side during the team's light practice.

The Jets were likely giving their All-Pro center an extra day to recover since they don't play again until Monday night.

Defensive end Ropati Pitoitua (right knee), and defensive backs Donald Strickland (head injury) and Isaiah Trufant (hamstring) also didn't practice. Ryan hopes Pitoitua and Strickland will play, but Trufant will likely be sidelined for the game.

"Just trying to get some work done on it," Pitoitua said, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. "We'll see what happens."
