Greenburgh Official Says Use Old Tappan Zee Bridge For Park
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – As the Tappan Zee Bridge gets pushed to the front of the line for replacement construction projects, many are left wondering what will happen to the old deteriorating bridge.

Some New Yorkers suggest it could be the "Highline on the Hudson" just like the original "Highline" rail line-turned-park on Manhattan's west side.
Greenburgh supervisor Paul Feiner thinks the old Tappan Zee Bridge should be converted into a park and greenway for the public.
"Pedestrians, cyclists, tourists could walk or bike from one side of the bridge to the other," he said. "It'll encourage people from one county to shop to the other side of the river so Tarrytown and Greenberg residents can go to Nyack and vise-versa so it'll help this community and help tourism."
Feiner said the state would save hundreds of millions of dollars in demolition costs, but right now there are only ideas and nothing set in stone.
"The potential is unlimited, but I think it could really make the Tappan Zee Bridge a real destination point for tourists."
A call to the governor's office was not returned.
