For five days, over 900 bands will perform throughout the city at music venues, hotels, and stores. Additionally, numerous films will be shown at various theaters throughout New York.

Nearly every genre of music will be presented and artists from all over the world will be showcased day and night from Tuesday through Saturday. While bands perform all day and well into the night throughout various showcases, industry panels are held during the day. Led by music industry insiders and successful artists, talks range the gamut and include everything from how to successfully promote your band to how to launch a music start-up.

Furthermore, the week has plenty to offer film buffs. Screenings of numerous films are often followed by Q&A’s with the director as well as musicians featured on the big screen. Cameron Crowe’s Pearl Jam Twenty as well as Michael Rapaport’s Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels Of A Tribe Called Quest are just two highlights.

Festival badges are still available for purchase. While a badge allows festival-goers into most events, many of the shows are open and on sale to the public.

Stay tuned to CBSNewYork in the upcoming days for exclusive interviews with New York-based bands performing at the CMJ Music Marathon.
