JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) — State police say a northern New Jersey man committed suicide when authorities came to his home this week to arrest him on sex assault charges.

Sgt. Stephen Jones tells The Jersey Journal that 29-year-old Eric Martin shot himself in the chest around 7 p.m. Thursday, shortly after authorities arrived at his Jersey City home.
