NORTH HEMPSTEAD, NY (WCBS 880) — It may not seem like it right now with all that snow covering the ground, but it is actually still fall and when the snow melts, yards will be left covered with leaves.

Now, one Long Island town has an environmentally friendly way to dispose of those leaves on your front lawn.

But now the town is offering biodegradable bags that disintegrate in about a year.

“Anyone who lives in the town of North Hempstead can call 311 and get these bags delivered to them for about 50 cents a piece,” said Kaiman.

Anyone who does not live in the town can go on the town’s website and order the bags.
