NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) –The dog days will be over for some New York canines when the RS Pop-Up Adoption Shop opens at the Roger Smith Hotel, at 501 Lexington Ave., on Wednesday.

RS Pop is teaming up with the Mayors Alliance for NYC's Animals to feature pets up for adoption every day. In an effort to help as many of New York's animals in need, the Mayor's Alliance adoption van will be parked curbside every Wednesday to feature even more pets.

For New Yorkers who already have pets, the shop will also feature clothing, accessories and treats for both cats and dogs. Additionally, 10 percent of the proceeds from the products—which range from carriers to organically grown catnip—will be donated to the Mayor's Alliance.

Welcoming puppies is a big change for the fashion hot spot, which typically works to provide exposure for up-and-coming designers.

"As a pet owner myself, I am thrilled to have a pets pop up at RSPOP," said co-founder Melissa

Gonzalez, who told CBSNewYork there will also be fashionable canine accessories available. "What a better time for unconditional love than the holidays?"

There will be weekly cocktail receptions featuring special guests and treats for pet owners to celebrate the adoption efforts every Wednesday, from 5 – 8 p.m., beginning with the opening reception on Nov. 2.

Every dog will have his day—and luckily for the dogs in New York, that day may be as soon as November.
