Police Seek Suspect In 7 Manhattan Bank Robberies

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are asking for the public's help in finding a well-dressed suspect responsible for a string of robberies in the city.

In all, police said the suit-wearing suspect has hit seven banks, mostly Capitol One branches, since September.

The most recent heist occurred Tuesday at the HSBC Bank on Park Avenue. The tellers told police the suspect handed over a note demanding money and then took off with an unknown amount of cash.

No injuries have been reported in the robberies but in most instances police said the man claimed to have a gun in his waistband.

The suspect is believed to be in his 40s with short gray hair and a mustache. Police said he is about 5'7", 175 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
