Arraignment Set For Man Who Allegedly Tried To Steal Drugs From L.I. Pharmacy

SHIRLEY, N.Y. (AP) -- A man has been arrested on charges he tried to rob a Long Island pharmacy of prescription drugs.

Suffolk County police say 25-year-old Nicholas Lobianco tried to rob a Rite Aid pharmacy in Shirley on Monday afternoon.

Police say he handed an employee a note demanding prescription drugs. They say Lobianco then ran away before the employee could comply.

He was facing arraignment Wednesday on attempted robbery charges. The name of his attorney was not immediately known. Authorities said the defendant was homeless.

Last week, a Long Island man was sentenced to consecutive life terms in prison for a June pharmacy robbery that left four people dead in Medford. The man's wife, who drove the getaway car, was sentenced to 25 years for robbery.
